At the park with Grady

Today I went to a CRP certification class while Grady was at preschool.  The class didn't end until 1pm, so Boris picked Grady up and took him to the park to eat lunch.  I got to the park just as they finished up their lunch.  While Boris went back to work, Grady and I stayed to play.  I was sad to see Grady try to play with two little girls and they said no he couldn't play with them.  Grady didn't let it bother him but it was sad because they were the only other people at the park.

After a while, we went over to see the ducks.  There were a lot of ducks and geese sitting on the grass.  The creek has been frozen over for a while this winter.  Today there was some flowing water but lots of ice too.  We saw a bunch of ducks standing and walking around on the ice.

Grady walked around trying to get close to the ducks on the grass and just couldn't understand why it wouldn't work to pet one.  Then he decided to go fishing.  He found a bunch of long sticks on the ground and explored all the rocks at the edge of the water looking for good fishing spots.  I kept telling him that he was freaking me out by climbing on all the rocks and leaning over so far.  He stood on one rock and startled a duck hiding between the rocks.  The duck freaked out and flew away and Grady screamed.  That was pretty nerve-wracking for me since he was standing on top of a rock when he got scared like that.

He'd bend over on the rocks and try to get his fishing pole in the water.  A couple times, he'd "catch a fish" and fling it over to the ducks in the water.  Then after a while he got a little irritated because he couldn't find any real fish to catch.  We explored the rest of the area and he threw all his sticks into the creek and/or on the ice before we went home.

At home, he went right back to his LEGO building.  Today was a MARS Rover, like what Peter built a couple days ago.  This weekend all of the LEGO projects have to be taken apart so the boys have new inventory to build - they're running out of pieces to make new things because they've built so much this week.
