Grady's been talking about Vasona since we were down in San Jose last time. He really wanted to play in the creek last time and he was upset that he didn't get to play at the park as long as he wanted to.
So, we made a special effort to go to the park this time. I understand that on Sunday when Grandma walked to the park with the boys, Grady was rather upset that it wasn't the right park. He wanted to go to the "big one" and was not happy about having to play at the little one.
The park is a big one. It has two playgrounds, a train, a carousel, a creek, a lake and lots of walking trails.

Playing at the playground didn't actually last very long. Peter showed off his pull up. Grady climbed around for a little while. I don't think either of the boys went down any slides. Maybe parks just aren't as fun if your friends aren't there. They've been very used to stopping at the park near our house to have a playdate with friends, but we bring bikes and they go exploring, riding, and only occasionally play on the playground part.

We brought some sandwiches for the boys and they ate those pretty quickly. We made it to the train and everyone had a fun ride. I was surprised to see the boys get into waving to everyone walking on the paths while we rode the train.

They liked seeing the squirrels. We walked all over, but didn't let the boys in the creek. They didn't really ask, but I'm sure they would have had fun if we offered. Of course, on our walk back across the park to our car, we see some kids in the creek with their grandparents taking pictures. Right next to them is the sign that Peter reads out loud - "No Swimming or Wading". The grandpa got a slightly nervous laugh and said "good reading". Then Peter had to ask what the sign meant and we had to explain it to him. I'm not sure what he thinks of someone going against the posted rule like that. I don't know how to explain that one to him, although we tried our best.
The boys were both really tired after all that time at the park. They didn't nap afterwards, but they were definitely feeling wiped out.
