Peter seems to be growing up a lot lately. He's been talking so much older and it's so amusing to hear these things come out of a small person's mouth. He tells Grady the ways of the world all the time. Sometimes it turns into lots of "you can't do this" or "only this way is ok", but other times it's just silliness.
Today while the boys were eating their pizza, Peter told Grady "um, I really think you need to take a couple more bites of that". Then Grady said he'd take one. Peter chose a number like five. Then it went like this:
Peter: Six.
Grady: One.
Peter: Seven.
Grady: One.
Peter: It's going to keep going up every time you say that.

Ok, so yes, that means I've said something similar, but truly not very often. It's not like he got it from me saying it all the time. Ironically, Grady wasn't getting upset about this exchange and was nearly ignoring it besides saying "one".

Peter also made it into the newspaper last week. He was pretty excited when he opened it up and saw his picture. It was from the Library reading program's event. They had lots of animals including a kangaroo, lemur, crocodile, servil and an owl. This picture was taken just as the guy was holding the owl up trying to get him to flap his wings and instead he pooped. Obviously that was the funniest part of the day. Peter actually left the event feeling rather let down because "the guy said the kangaroo was going to hop and he didn't". So I was really surprised that he had such a happy face.
Peter's been making his own breakfast often lately too. He can toast his own waffles, butter them, pour syrup and milk too. He's been more willing to help out around the house. And when we were getting ready to leave on our trip, he did really well helping put things away and pack without any complaining.

Of course, sometimes you just have to go for the cool look. A glow in the dark minion shirt and sunglasses from Color Me Rad, along with a digital camera in it's own snazzy case. And don't forget the super special tie shoes (shoelaces instead of velcro).
