Peter's Last day of 1st Grade

First Day of School 2012
It started out as most other school days: breakfast, brush teeth, and get ready to go.  No need to pack a lunch.  Peter was happy that he got school lunch on the last day of school - breaded chicken sandwich. We also had to remember sunscreen and the card for his teacher.

They had field day outside for most of the day.  He said he ate three otter pops too.  He got his last pee chee sent home with the last of his art projects and flyers.

After lunch, that was it.  First grade was over.  He walked out so much more grown up than he walked in.  Next year, he's hopeful that he can sometimes walk home from the bus by himself, but definitely does not want to talk about carpooling with the neighbor.

Last Day of School 2013
He met the standard for all subjects on his report card.  His end of year testing was very high in both reading and math.

Now, he's excited to have the summer off but is already complaining about being bored and "what should I do?".  He's still supposed to work on reading and math (and some writing) over the summer so he doesn't lose the skills.  We've got a whole bunch of new books that are just his level for him to read over the summer.

We have one week with no scheduled things to do, and then 3 weeks of camps for the boys.  They should have lots of fun and make lots of good memories...and hopefully not sit at home fighting too much.  I think they'll do fine once they catch up on sleep and stuff.  The last weeks of school for each of them have been really busy.
