Peter's Latest Book

Peter's class at school has been doing "special fun activities" every day at school lately.  The teacher told me that none of the kids really remember the stuff they learned in May during the next school year, so she's spending this month assessing kids for report cards, doing fun activities and reinforcing the stuff she's already taught.

Today's fun activities was using rubber stamps to make a book.  It appears that it had to be like a real book.  One page of paper folded in half with a cover (with author's name), content inside, and then back cover blurb (what the book is about).

Here's Peter's cover page:

It is definitely "Many Stamps, by Peter".  He picked a whole bunch for this cover.  He was happy to have found a stamp of "Grady's favorite dinosaur" - I'm pretty sure he thinks it's a stegosaurus, but it's not.  I don't know what that stamp dinosaur is called.

Then we get to the inside:

"Many Penguins slip and slide".  Yes, definitely true.  There are many penguins on that page and they're all slipping and sliding on the pond.

And well, "There are skulls at heaven".  See, he made a sign for heaven and there are all kinds of skulls there.  And in addition to that, there's a couple hearts.  He told me, he meant the types of hearts in your body.  Because obviously those would be in heaven too.  (I'd really like to know why there's a grave stamp as a part of this stamp set.  But I guess we can all be glad it was inspiring to Peter's story.)

And finally, the back cover:

"This is non-fiction".  He was very adamant about this.  "It really is, Mom.  Because there's really skulls at heaven."  It is just so cute.  I had to save my laughter for later.  He almost always tells me that detail of a book, instead of having anything else to say about it.  It's either fiction or non-fiction.

I think he really enjoyed this school activity.  Tomorrow is his class field trip and the next day is his park day.  Then there's only five more days of school for this year.  He's pretty excited to be done with the year, but he's having a good time doing "fun activities" each day.
