And the REAL birthday-day

Peter's had his party Friday night, but his birthday was really Saturday.  He got up at 7:30am on Saturday, even after being up late.  He said he was just too excited to look at all his presents.  He opened up the LEGO sets and built all the people.  I helped him out with the Batwing or whatever it was called.  He had all the pieces scattered on the floor and I was trying to clean up a bit from the night before.  He built the other two LEGO sets completely on his own throughout the day.

He's worn his ninja headband almost constantly since the party.  It says "Kai" (twice, once forwards and once mirror imaged), who is the red ninja from the LEGO Ninjago series.  (He was very excited that one of his friends got him the Kai LEGO set, "even without it being on my wishlist, mom".)

We went with Grandma and Grandpa to Olive Garden for lunch.  Peter's choice as the birthday boy (after I overruled the McDonald's choice).  The waitress almost forgot the candle, but Peter reminded her.  That was mostly the whole reason he wanted to go to Olive Garden.  Because last year they gave him a candle to blow out and sang to him.

After the boys took turns pushing Grandpa's wheel chair out to the car, Grady decided to try pushing at the handicap parking sign.  He stood there, straining and grunting as he tried to push it, but by the time I got the camera out he was done with it.

After Olive Garden, Boris helped Peter get his Carnivorous Plant kit started.  We never realized how long these things take to grow.  One seed packet needs six weeks in the fridge before you plant it.  Another packet you could plant right away.  But all of them will take like 3-6 months before you can tell if they're going to survive.

And we have nunchucks in action.  Even after the party was over, the boys kept making more nunchucks this weekend.  I think Peter has as many as six or more sets now.  Some longer, some shorter, some "more real" looking than others.  All made of foam and duct tape so it doesn't hurt much if someone gets hit.  The biggest risk of injury is the plastic string "chain" that can sting if it gets you.
