King Grady

Grady's favorite color has been gold for quite a while.  For a little bit, it was black and gold but now it is definitely just gold. We made boats with gold duct tape over the summer.  I put the extra duct tape away but the boys found it this week.  Grady took a huge amount of time taking pieces of duct tape and putting them on papers.  Then he started cutting out the paper with tape - very carefully and with great concentration.  Now he has tons of small "pieces of gold".  He carries them around and hands them out like money.
He also has a thing for boxes.  His room is filled with boxes.  He loves lining them up and filling them with things.  When we were at Michael's yesterday, he spent a long time looking at all the wooden boxes and picking out which ones he'd get when he saves his money.  Of course, he would probably have to paint the boxes once he gets them - gold.  He picked out a box that looks like a suitcase, but only the one that's "Grady sized" because the others are too big or too small.  He tried them all out - picking them up by the suitcase handle and walking up and down the aisle humming while he carries them.
After the duct tape was all used up, the boys insisted on keeping the used rolls.  They each put duct tape decoration on the front and made them into crowns.  Peter has put his on once or twice, but it was mostly the making-of that was fun for him.  But Grady...he wears his all over the house.  I saw him walk to and from Peter's room (grabbing more toys from his room) with the crown on his head and he walks all around the house with the crown on.  He can stand up, sit down and walk around without having to adjust the crown.  I tried to take a video, but I started laughing too hard and shaking the camera.  Then he noticed my phone was out so he had to pose for the picture.  He's just so natural about wear a crown.  He would not have any problem being a king, today or any day in the future!
