Typical Monday

Grady and I went swimming yesterday.  Since the boys don't want some strange teacher showing them how to swim, we're trying it with me.  Grady was glad to get special time to spend with me and go swimming, but wasn't too happy about trying things in the pool.  Plus he got cold really fast.

On to lunch and preschool.  He takes his giant backpack to preschool every day.  With his change of clothes (just in case) and a water bottle.  He brings his papers home in his backpack and his teacher is quickly learning that art projects to hang on the wall most likely need to be sent home every day (otherwise the kids get upset that they can't take it home).

Time to open the door, Mom.  Stop with the pictures.  I've got things to do today.  Time's a-wastin'.

Before we left the parking lot, he had to show me his papers.  This week is "C" week.  They colored cake pictures and made cookies for the cookie jar.  Grady was very proud to tell me how he put chocolate chips on his cookies.

He even named his chocolate chip cookies.  The two on the top are named Chocolate Chips.  The one on the bottom is named Chocolate Chip.  The top ones have an "s", Mom.  The bottom one doesn't.

We end up with about 10 minutes between getting Grady home from preschool and heading out to pick Peter up from the bus stop.  With the smoke finally clearing, we've been trying to walk to the bus stop more often.

Grady got about half way to the bus stop and then asked "how many more steps until we get there?"  I told him about 75, so he counted the whole rest of the way.  It was more than 75.  I think he got over 150 before we got to the end of the street.

He brought an apple to eat on the way.  And he found a baby pinecone on the ground.

Stop already with the pictures.  Can't you hear me trying to tell you something?!

He does have lots of stories to tell.

And Peter gets off the bus, so now we have the walk all the way back home.  Peter gets a snack at home and then starts on his homework.  About 15 minutes of reading and some spelling or math homework.  This week they had to make a map of something.  Peter got all his spelling words correct on Monday, so it's sort-of a waste of time for him to work on spelling homework this week, but at least it doesn't take him very long.
