Pictures and Moments

This was a super busy week with the boys getting back to school; lots of stuff to catch up on, and both boys trying out martial arts too. We didn't get home before 6:30pm Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Finally today we managed to come home right after school and not go anywhere else. The boys dealt with the running around pretty well, so all is good for the moment.

Over the weekend we went down to Folsom for my Grandma's birthday. It was just a quick weekend trip with an overnight stay. Boris' parents came to visit while we were closer too. Here are two Russian mafia family members plotting their next assassination.

And you'll be happy to know: on the trip down and the trip back we got to stop at the very same trailhead to let everyone pee on a tree. On the return trip, Grady was very specific about asking if he could pick his own tree this time. Peter came back to the car saying "um, that was pretty messy".

Obviously after a weekend away, there was tons of laundry to do. With Grady home on Tuesday (Peter's first day back at school), he was helping me with all the chores. While I hung up one load of laundry, he loaded the washer back up. I walked into the laundry room to find him pushing the clothes down, closing the lid, and jumping on top of the washer to push the start button.

Grady also helped me catch up on the cooking. Making Chicken and Dumplings was fun for Grady and he really enjoyed using the scissors to cut up the dumplings. Did he enjoy eating it later? no. He managed to pick around and eventually eat one bowl, but I don't usually make the boys eat it more than once if they've been complaining about it.

And the conversation overheard today, all in squeaky-voice-animal-talking:
Peter: <pulls out a little plush turtle with magnets on his feet and puts him on the table. Walks away to play with LEGOs>
Grady: <with some other animal> hello little turtle. Do you want to play with me?
Peter: No, I'm pooping right now.
Grady: Oh. That's sort of gross. Could you move away please?
Peter: Not really. You're getting poop on you.
Grady: Yuck. That's really gross. Now I've got poop all over me.
Peter: Yeah, sometimes my poop can be rather heavy.
Grady: Ugg. Now I have to wipe it all off.

And the other day when Grady saw the clouds he said "you should stop and take a picture of those clouds". So I did. I give you: some clouds.
