LEGOs and Awesome

We went to see the LEGO movie last weekend. Opening weekend can get busy, even in a small town, but we managed. The boys had enough friends join us that we took up almost an entire row at the theater. It was another movie where no one got scared - possibly because I had many talks with the boys beforehand... that everything in the movie is LEGOs. Even if someone threatens to do something mean, or take someone apart, or any other scary thing, they're still just LEGOs. It worked well enough that Grady was telling his friend the same thing before the movie started.

The movie was so inspiring to the boys that they immediately came home and started building LEGOs. They tried to build as many things from the movie as they could, but it started getting rough within a day because they already had so many things being displayed that they ran out of important pieces.

Grady's Creations
I made them line up all of the displayed LEGOs so we could take pictures and then we took everything apart so they could start building all over. Some of the highlights from the building cycle were: two Star Trek Enterprises, one Klingon Warbird, a jet by Grady, lots of cars, some spies, some Minecraft Creepers, a penguin, R2-D2, mountains, ships, ambulance, boat, and lots of characters that were capable of flying around on their own to interact with each other.

One of the other results of the LEGO movie is the boys singing the song all the time. It goes "Everything is Awesome". They don't know all the words, although they're pretty funny. "Clocks and rocks and socks - they're awesome". Peter hears some of it and says "um, that's not really awesome". But they have fun singing it.

They've also been watching Bob The Builder and a couple other PBS shows on the weekends. I guess there was a song that went "I love rockin', I love rollin, ain't nothing better than a'rockin' and a'rollin". So Peter was singing that one most of the day on Saturday. When we were getting in the car, he sang it and this was the boys' conversation:
Grady: That's not really true. There are things better than rocking and rolling.
Peter: Like what?
Grady: I can't really answer that.  <think, think> Maybe something like a cartwheel because you go upside-down and stuff.

Spies and cars and ships
The boys spent a lot of time with Grandma and Grandpa this weekend and they had laughable conversations going on the whole time. Most of them had to do with poop because that's still the most funny thing ever to both of them.
