We've had such a busy week. The book fair was at school, so I was there setting up. And there are other school things that I've been running around for all week. It's been hectic for everyone and we have at least one more week of busy until we can relax a bit.The boys have been full of funny stuff over the last week but I don't remember a lot of it. Everything is playing in their characters. They get high voices to be "Hedgie and Guinea". They get low voices to be "Mr. Hedgehog and Mr. Guinea Pig". They're so funny to listen to... "No, no. talk in your low voice." "oh sorry, ahem, excuse me, Mr. Guinea Pig." They play Star Trek and Tae Kwon Do and all sorts of things that involve poop and vomit. They go back and forth making stuff up together all day. I'll hear something about someone getting hit and go to investigate and they'll quickly explain "no, no, it was just Hedgie and Guinea".
This week was also Kindergarten registration week. We got Grady all registered on Monday morning. Third person of the week. So, now we're all set for fall. Grady will be at the same school as Peter (finally) and it'll be the first year that I only have to drive everyone to one place, all at the same time. From everything I know, Kindergarten will be full-day. I'm sure it'll be tiring for a while, but I think he'll do really well with it.
Yesterday, Peter's class had an elephant party. They have been learning about elephants, so they made elephant footprints and paper elephant ears. Peter came home wearing his ears. He was very serious about it until I tried to get a picture. The elephant ears have little turtles drawn on them (because Peter's new thing is turtles). Each turtle also has a Star Trek insignia. Then he was telling me, on the way to Tae Kwon Do, all about elephants. African vs. Asian elephants. All about how most elephants are going extinct. Ivory tusks and wooly mammoths. Then he thinks for a minute and says... "you know, we have elephants in the zoos. But Africa and Asia are pretty far from here." I told him that they would bring the elephants over on boats. He gets this shocked look on his face, thinks, and then says "well, I guess at least they have snorkels...with their trunks." I laughed silently, until later when I could recount the story and laugh more openly.
Peter had a playdate last weekend, and I thought Grady had a birthday party to go to. But when the birthday party ended up being on a different day, I just took Grady out with me, shopping and grabbing some treats. I tried to get a picture of us together, but he wasn't too happy about it. After a couple minutes, he did say I could take a picture of him with his treat.
